Mixin' it up at Little Yellow Bicycle!

If you live in Texas, like I do, you know that back to school excitement lasts about 1 day.  Football season is the talk around town for months!  So it made perfect sense for me to mix the Little Yellow Bicycle Makin' the Grade Collection with the Get Your Game On Collection!

This is a cheer picture from my daughter's senior year.  I am wild about the doodles that were included in the Makin' the Grade Collection and had to use them for this fun picture!  I think it really added the girly to the Game On embellishments.

Go Team!

One doodle deserves another!  I drew flowers on white cardstock to add to the page.  I just cut them out after they were dry.  I love the Sakura Glaze Pens for heavy doodles.

And another doodle!  I also made a frame for the 'football field' looking paper.  These doodles kind of remind me of the refs' uniforms.  Thankfully, I like these doodles better than I liked some of the refs we had over the years!  :)

I added some white ones to the striped paper.  I trimmed along the little scallops after it was dry.  I used a Sakura Souffle pen for the white doodling.  I like the touch of texture it adds to your doodles.

And even More!  :)  Layers, chipboard and of course, it's a cheer page, so it had to have a bow!

Be sure to go by the Little Yellow Bicycle Blog to get some great ideas!  Mixing the collections is such a great way to use some of your leftovers along with all the brand new things!

Designer Showcase at Bo Bunny

It's my turn to be in the spotlight at Bo Bunny's Designer Showcase!

I never am sure what to tell when I'm the focus.  As those of you who already know me know, I can talk forever, but there is something about having to come up with interesting things about yourself that shuts me down fast!  :)  So, I decided to tell a bit about myself, make a new layout and to share some of my old favorites.
I would love it if you would take a peek at the Bo Bunny Blog to check it out.

Here is the new layout that I did for the post...

As those of you with older children know, it is harder to get recent pictures of your kids when they aren't living at home. Thank goodness for Facebook! Without it, I would probably only have Christmas and other holiday pictures. The layout that I am sharing today is a lift off of my daughter's facebook. Even though she has a camera, she usually just uses her phone to take pictures. Some of them won't make it to the page, but some of them end up looking really great and way more fun than the perfect pictures I'm always trying to get.

I used the gorgeous new Serenade Collection to make this one. I chose to really play up the yellows in the collection to go with her photo. Between her yellow top and the extra saturated picture, it was a perfect match!

When I'm putting together a page, I like to add lots of little details. Because I tend to be drawn to EVERYTHING when it comes to embellishments, I always try to ask myself if I see the pictures. It is important to me to have my photos take center stage.

This close-up shows some of the details that I love to do for my pages. Stitching almost always shows up on my pages and I love clustering and shaped papers and stickers. Keeping it to the edges of my phot with just a bit of overlapping helps to keep all this from overwhelming my photo.

More clustering and a touch of fussy cutting make a showing on the bottom of the page. I couldn't help but make leaves out of the patterned paper. Of course, if you are familiar with my work, you will now that a ribbon or bow almost always ends up being added. If you haven't tried the Double Dot ribbon, you need to! I LOVE how it has the dots on both sides to make tying bows and knots a snap!

Be sure to drop by Bo Bunny to check out all the new collections and to take a peek at the latest challenges!  There is always so much going on over there!

More Makin' the Grade

I have more to share with the Little Yellow Bicycle Makin' the Grade Collection!
I'm making progress on pictures that are from 2005 and 2006!  I don't scrap in chronilogical order since I started scrapping in 2005, but it's time to get some of these into books!  The Makin' the Grade collection is making it easy!

Locker Mates
I did this one for the Little Yellow Bicycle blog, too.  We are spending time focusing on big kids!  Perfect for me since I don't have little ones at home.  :)

I layered chipboard over paper and tickets for this section.  For some reason, school pages need checks for me.  I added a few gingham brads and a tiny gingham bow in with the cluster.

I also layered the chipboard with one of the clear cuts in this section.  Adding a few more gingham brads helped pull my layout together and give it continuity across the page.

This was also on the Little Yellow Bicycle Blog.

Card Sketch Challenge at Bo Bunny

The Bo Bunny Blog has started the September Card Sketch Challenge!
The Sketch is provided by Juliana Michaels and you are going to love it!  It's so beautiful and it made creating this card so easy!

I seldom mail my cards because I'm the WORST when it comes to getting them in the mail!  lol  Since I tend to hand them over, tuck them in a gift bag or tie them onto a package, I love to add lots of dimension!  Lots of foam dots makes it easy!

After 2 years with Bo Bunny, I still can't get enough of the double dot ribbon!!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE that it has the polka-dots on both sides!  Bow tying couldn't be easier with this ribbon!

Be sure to stop by the Bo Bunny Blog to see the sketch, get the details and be inspired by the other Bo Bunny Designers!
