Hi everyone! It's my last Tuesday posting at Really Reasonable Ribbon!

I know that lots of you probably have little girls... If you do, you know they seem to have loads of bows and clips for their hair! When my daughter was small, we needed a way to corral her endless supply of hair bows, so I made a couple of these and hung them in her room. This is another super simple idea and it's really inexpensive to make. Unfortunately, getting a good picture of it isn't so simple! :)

This is made from a yardstick! Easy to find and cheap, too! Here are a couple of close-ups so that you can get the idea easier.

To make it you will need:

1 1/2" ribbon
7/8" ribbon
1 piece of 12x12" paper
Small piece of wire
Glue gun
Modge Podge or other glue
(optional: paint or ink)

How To:
1. Paint or ink the edges of your yardstick.
2. Cut paper the width of your yardstick and glue or modge podge to the front.
3. Starting at the top, hot glue the ribbon every 2 inches. Leave a loop in between each glued spot.

4. Glue a round bow to the top and a simple bow to the bottom.
5. Glue a loop of ribbon to the back for a hanger.

That's it! Now... how does it hold all those bows? Simple clip them to each loop. This is actually so much cuter when it's full of all different kinds of clips. It makes an adorable birthday gift, too. I make a few clips with bows to add to it and you have a simple and inexpensive birthday gift.

Now... How to make a round bow and a clip? Here are some instructions for that. After you make a few to get the hang of it, there is nothing to these. Speaking of birthdays... how about making a clip to attach to the package instead of a storebought bow? It's like an extra little gift!

Hope that you can use this idea! Be sure to check out the store to pick out your ribbons. There are so many choices there to use for your bows!

Another Ribbon Idea to Share!

Hi everyone! Hope you are off to a great start to your week!

If you haven't done the challenge at the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog, you still have time! Use this link to go take a peek! Challenge

I have a fun little idea for you. When my daughter went to college, we couldn't find a lamp that went with her colors in her dorm room. After much searching, I came up with the idea to use ribbons to alter a lamp for her. She loved it! Unfortunately, it never came back home so I can't show it to you. So... I liked it so much that I made one for my scrapbook room.
This one lives here, so you get to see it!

My favorite thing about this little idea is that it can be any colors you want. There are no limits to this one and it is such an inexpensive way to add some fun to your space.
I picked this little lamp up for $10.00.

Here are some close-ups to show you the details.

All you have to do is cut two pieces of ribbon for each section and tie them around your lampshade.  You can see that I have a knot at the bottom.  I tied the knot first and then pulled the ribbon up (one piece on the inside and one on the outside) and tied a simple shoestring type bow.
Keep repeating until you have them the way you want them to look.
 FAST and EASY!

Here is a close-up of the top.  I did tie each ribbon in the same direction.  I liked the way they kind of lined up to lay nicely by doing it this way.

And a close-up of the bottom.  Just hold the two pieces stacked on top of one another and tie a knot.  You can see that the bottoms are all cut differently, but that is not a problem.

I chose to go with the colors of my scrapbook room and to only use ribbons.
Some other ideas for this one are to add some ric-rac, just use knots instead of bows. What about going for an elegant look? Nothing says elegant like a wide satin ribbon. I think tying buttons to the ribbons would be an adorable look in a baby's room.
 The possibilities are endless!

Be sure to check out the Really Reasonable Ribbon Store and pick out your favorite ribbons! Speaking of endless possibilities, you will find them in the store!

I would love to see your ideas for this project!

Monday Must Have - Great Scissors

It's another Monday Must Have! As a crafter, the right pair of scissors is a Must Have! Getting the job done right the first time often entails having the right tools.

Do any of you have these scissors?

These are the MOST VERSITILE tool that I own. I would probably not have purchased them on my own because I thought that they were just another pair of scissors! NOT TRUE! I was lucky enough to win a pair on NSBD at Scrapbook.com last year. Wow! These scissors will cut just about anything. Chipboard is not a problem with these. Who would have guessed that you could fussy cut chipboard with a pair of scissors? You can with these!

On top of using these for your scrapbooking, you will find that they are a great tool around the house. Mine are forever disappearing into my husband's stash! I finally promised him his own pair. He has cut metal, vinyl flooring pieces and even balsa wood with these. Actually, my son did the balsa wood. I think that he might need a pair, too! What is really terrific about these is that after all that, I can still cut ribbon with my pair. They LAST and LAST! These scissors are tough!

I will have to tell you though, as good as they are... I still prefer my Cutter Bee Scissors for paper fussy cutting.

What is so great about these? They are small, very sharp and have tiny tip to get the best cuts. I have had mine since I started scrapbooking and they are still going strong! The perfect tool for the job!

So what about you? Are there any other scissors that you MUST HAVE? I want to hear about it!

Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog Hop

It's that time again! Time for another Really Reasonable Ribbon blog hop! These are always such fun and of course there is always a prize in the offering. If you are starting at my blog, you need to hop back to the beginning at the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog. You are going to be so inspired with great ideas for using your ribbons along the way!

If you are already well on your way, you made it here from Cassie's Blog, you are on the right track and need to make your next stop at Kym Weber

The prize this month is again a fantastic Ribbon Club assortment from RRR! Check this out...

If you are ready for summer or already scrapping your summer photos, you definitely need this in your stash! You also need to stop by Really Reasonable Ribbon to check out the other ribbon. I have it on very good authority that Bonnie has been adding new ribbons!

I am wild about the ribbons this month! I needed a gifty item so I decided to cover a little paper mache box and to make a matching card. Since I love getting handmade gifts, I enjoy doing my 'gift wrapping' this way. I chose to stick with only one of the ribbons for this one, but keep an eye out... I have more to show you using this great assortment next week.

Here are a couple of close-ups. To make the loops on the box, simply cut little strips and use a quick drying glue to attach them. They will stay perfectly in place and because the ribbon is such a great quality, they hold their shape perfectly!

Here is a list of all the stops, just in case you need it for reference.

Each challenge will be open for 13 days. So the challenge for the 1st will be open until the 14th at 5pm CST. A winner will be chosen and that winner will win a $10 gift certificate to use as they choose at the Really Reasonable Ribbon store. We will also be picking our top 3 sweethearts. that will have a badge to proudly sport on their own blogs.

Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #1

So, our first Challenge is to create a masculine project. With Father's Day coming up here in North America, we figured you may need to create a thing or two anyway. The only rule for creating is that you've GOT TO USE RIBBON! You saw that coming right?

The challenge is open until June 14th at 5PM CST, so get your entries in. We look forward to seeing your cards, scrapbook layouts, ATC's, Moos, altered art, mixed media... you name it, we want to see it.

Here is a little card that I made using some jute ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I also used some old jewelry charms that I had.

Be sure to follow the instructions on the RRR Blog. You will also find some FABULOUS card ideas there! The girls are amazing card makers!

See you there and thanks for dropping by!
