DIY Fabric Pumpkin Tutorial for Create with Prima

Hi everyone!  Today, I'm up on youtube with a video tutorial for Create with Prima!

For this one, I'll show you how to make an easy pumpkin that can be customized to fit your decor.  I used some of the beautiful IOD Stamps from Prima Marketing to stamp the fabric, which gives you even more options when customizing fabric.

You can watch the full video right here:

The little sign that I used for my grouping was created using all the same embellishments.

I'm loving the Zella Teal collection and it fits perfectly with the stamping!

And a closer look!

Owl Canvas for Create with Prima Video Tutorial

Fall is in the air and I'm READY!  Prima has a new collection that is fabulous for your fall projects!  It's called Autumn Moon and has the perfect color pallet to mix with all your fall decor.

I created this shadow box like canvas using some of the collection along with some other Prima Products that match.  I'm a nut for the owls that we are seeing in decor right now, but I wanted him to be Prima-fied!

This project is quite straight forward and you can watch the video right here:

I added some close-ups so that you can see the placement if you want to give this a try!  Isn't he cute?  I think the metal pieces make him extra special though!

Lots of details!  Most of it is Prima Flowers, but I even went out into my yard to get some sticks!

One last close-up for the placement, if you want to see how it came together.

Recently, I was lucky enough to get in on an Art Exchange.  We all are exchanging paint brushes.  After giving it some thought and holding my brush for a while, I decided to just go with what I love to do and turn my brushes into dress forms!  I did them all differently, but kept the base of the dress form and the basics the same.

This was so much fun and just what I needed to get my mojo going!  No rules, just fun!

Along the way, some of us decided to make videos of our process and have a hop!  So, here is the brush that I created for the hop!

You can watch the full process video right here:

I've included some extra photos so that you can see the details if you decide to try one.  These are pretty time consuming but so much fun to do!  The possibilities are endless in dressing them.  Mine are all different and I'll be sharing them soon!

Create with Prima Rustic Birdhouse Video

Sometimes, you end up with a project that is just so YOU!  This is one of those projects for me. It will fit perfectly in my home.  It's just my style!

This is just a small wooden birdhouse that I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  Every craft store carries some kind of wooden birdhouse, so they are easy to find and using Prima Products, so easy to make them yours!

You can watch the start to finish process right here:

To start out, I stained the birdhouse using Prima Color Bloom.  Although it's hard to see in the photo, it makes it a bit sparkly.  I loved the way that it made the wood look and the sheen was an added bonus!

I added a metal roof and then distressed it using Prima Rust Pastes.  So fun and easy!

Add your favorite Prima Flowers along with some Prima Craft Flowers, ribbon, twine and little birds!
Don't forget the florists moss to fill it all in!

Finally, the smallest details can pull it all together and really make the project shine.  For this one, I couldn't believe the difference adding the Prima Art Stones made.  Such tiny little details, but they really pack a punch!

I would love to see your take!  Be sure to let me know if you make one!!

Angel on Canvas with Create with Prima

I love angels!  This canvas was inspired by jewelry angels that I've seen.  I love how so many shapes can be used to create a personalized angel.  The IOD Molds by Prima are perfect for this idea!  So many choices to create your own!

You can watch the video right here on my blog!

I'm including some close-ups of the project.  It is easy to trim the pieces before they are dry.  I did that with the angel's head which you can see in this photo.

In my video, you will see that I changed the banner pieces.  Here is a close-up of what they look like on the finished project.  I kept them light colored and made them a bit smaller for balance.

Lastly, this photo along with some of the others, shows details of all the processes.  This one is soft and sparkly!

Favorite Color with Prima

Today on the Prima Blog, it's all about some of the designer's favorite colors.  My favorite color is blue which is perfect for the most current Prima Collection St. Tropez.  This collection has a lot of different shades of blue and is terrific for scrapbooking your favorite tropical photos!

I've been busy scrapbooking some of my daughter's vacation photos.  I love how well this collection works with them!  The flowers are beautiful and the chipboard has so many fun elements to coordinate.

I used a lot of techniques from my most recent Live with Prima Video for this page, too!  You can see the video here:  Message in a Bottle Canvas Tutorial

I Scream, You Scream for Ice Cream!

Summer is the perfect time to celebrate all things ice cream!  At Prima we were challenged to use Prima  products to create Ice Cream Cones.   How FUN!  So, I got busy with some of my favorite Prima and got to creating!!

Here is what I came up with:

If you follow me, you know I LOVE paper clay and the IOD Moulds!  I rolled out some paper clay, stamped it and then formed it to make the cone and wafer for my project.  I used the new IOD Medallion mould for the 'cherry on top'!

After stenciling and using watercolors to get my base complete. I cut a small foam ball in half and added Prima's boxed flowers for a fluffy ice cream cone.
Tip:  I used gold tipped pins and glue to attach the flowers to the foam ball.

The little resin bees from Prima are so sweet and I loved adding one to the cone and using one for the sentiment.  Get it?  Bee Sweet?

As always, I invite you to the Prima blog to see what the rest of the team came up with!  There are so many sweet Ice Cream projects!!

LWP Video Class - St. Tropez Collection

The Live with Prima Team decided to use the St. Tropez Collection this month!  It was so fun to see how we all used it differently.  My project is a 12x12 Canvas that features a photo of my daughter and a message in a bottle.  My favorite color is blue, so I really played up the blue on this project.  It also fits the photo perfectly!

You can watch the video right here!

For this one, I want to point out that I tried to include every step.  Normally, I have done the project ahead of time and you miss a lot of the back and forth of design choices. So many times, I have tried to explain that there is a lot of adding or taking things off as I design.   For classes, I and other teachers, have already thought out, created, moved things, etc. before you ever see the project or take the class. For this project, there is so much movement to the paint that it was the perfect project to show you that although it was fine without the last few additions of more paint, etc., adding those final details really finished it and I am happier with the design.  Would love to hear what you think!

When you watch the video, you will see that I used a lot of Prima Snowflake paste.  In addition to being so sparkly and perfect for winter themed projects, it also worked perfectly with this piece to give the look of sparkly beach foam! It's always fun to think outside the box!

I didn't put a real message in my bottle, but think I need to go back and do that!  It would be fun to include it, just in case someone opens it someday!

Make sure to see what the other teachers did with the St. Tropez collection!   Everyone had such beautiful projects!  Don't forget to join us on Facebook!  And, as always, I invite you to the Prima Blog to see what the design team is creating!

My Favorite Prima

Like most people, I first fell in love with Prima for their flowers! They, of course, continue to be my favorite Prima Product, but... there are so many more products to love with Prima!

My favorite thing about Prima is how many products that they now have.  There are so many mixed media, painting, waxes, etc. that make anything possible!

I created this little jewelry box using some of my favorite flowers from the CHA release.  I also used some of the new IOD Moulds for my base.    The best part of the IOD Moulds, not including the gorgeous designs, is that they can be used again and again!

Julie Nutting and Finnabair Gesso for Michaels Stores

I made this with one of the stamps that are at Michaels plus a lot more goodies from Michaels.   The chalkboard, flowers and ribbons all came from Michaels, too!

I stamped and embossed the Julie Nutting Doll on black cardstock.  It's a fun way to spruce up a chalkboard.  I love the way the bright flowers really show up on the completely black and white background.

A fun tip... I had no idea that you could use the Prima Black Gesso for chalkboards! Works like a charm to fix any boo boos!

These Prima Products are now available in Michaels!  Be sure to look for them at your local store!
