There is Love in the Air at My Creative Scrapbook!

It's that time of year and My Creative Scrapbook has the BEST kits to make your Valentine's and Love pages! There are some great ideas for cards and altering in the gallery this month, too! The design team has done some truly beautiful work to share with you. Be sure to check out the entire Design Team Gallery.

Here are my projects made from the kits. As you will see, I did a LOT more projects than usual. I just had to give all 4 kits a bit of attention this month! They are just so FUN!

First up is the Main Kit featuring Making Memories and Adornit. This is the sweetest kit made up of pretty pinks and soft browns. What a beautiful combination!

This is a snapshot of Kelly and I. I thought that this kit offered a nice way to tell our story.


This is my great niece Ella and her daddy Brent. The heart was made by tracing a Technique Tuesday tile on some of the patterned paper. I love this frilly heart and the way you can use it to frame a picture.


Just a simple card and altered candy holder. You can pick up these little cans at craft stores now. An easy way to give a little treat to those you love!


Next up is the Creative Kit featuring My Little Yellow Bicycle. Talk about a bright and fun kit with so many embellishments to make different looks! This is it! I just had to give a little love to my sweet tooth with this kit. Would you believe that I didn't even have to go to the store to get these pictures? All this candy and the brownies were readily at hand. Hhhmmm... and I wonder why I'm gaining weight! LOL


The Album Kit features Bo Bunny this month. Lots of color choices in this one. I love the way the Design Team got so many looks out of this kit. It truly has something for every style. I went with more of the reds that are in this one, but there are beautiful pinks in it, too!

This is my Father in Law holding Jade when she was a toddler. She was 'helping' Papa. I just cut the die-cut paper and re-arranged it. I added a couple of eyelets to the corners and tied them together with a piece of sheer ribbon.


This is Ella with her mommy Marnee this time. A super simple little layout. The black dots are Scribble's dimensional paint. You can pick it up cheap in the craft stores and even Walmart.


My idea of a funny little valentine. The 'title' and hearts are just rub-ons that are in the kits. This is a little nod to my daughter who really doesn't like the whole Valentine's Day thing. Since it's probably not a good idea to skip it all together, she prefers the funny Valentine's things.


Finally, the Limited Edition Kit!!! Wow!!! Just absolutely GORGEOUS things in this kit!!! It's also the BEST value out there!! It features Fancy Pants with lots of Prima goodies!! It's quite simply LOADED with the good stuff!

My niece and brother in law. I really like the way the Kraft paper of the Fancy Pants looks for a more masculine page. It gave me a chance to keep this one from being to girly with the flowers on this one. Of course, if you check out the DT gallery, you will see that this line can go super feminine, too!


Ella again... this time with Jade. This is a picture from the first time that Ella stayed with us. I came up with the title because we weren't quite sure that she actually did sleep! lol Of course, when she finally did, I was taking pictures instead of a nap!


FINALLY...This is a little girl's jewelry box that I altered to hold candy for my guest room.

Year in Review

What a year! It was a very BUSY year, a year that was filled with big blessings and little ones. Another year of big changes for our family. Our daughter graduating from college and landing her first job. A son who survived and thrived in his first year of college. A move to a new home for the first time in 17 years. We have had huge blessings and our share of sadness. Our nephew lost his valiant fight with cancer. His battle was an inspiration to our entire family.

Change can be tough, but our lives are moving in a wonderful new direction. As I look back, I can't help but be very proud of our kids. This is what they are supposed to be doing. As a mother, there is a part of me that would like just a bit more time with them being 'in the nest'. Thankfully, they both live within 2 1/2 hours of us and we see them often. As I said... HUGE blessings!

Looking back on the year of scrapbooking, I did not accomplish anywhere near what I planned to get done! Does anyone ever do it all? Well, if they do, I wish that they would come a schedule my time! lol We are all settled in our home now, the kids are happy and I have big plans for next year. Of course, if it doesn't get done, I'll just enjoy the journey.

I have seen so many people share their top ten for the year. I decided to do it, too. These are mine. They aren't necessarily my 'best' but they all have something I loved. Mostly, I would say that these were chosen because of the way they make me feel. My favorites usually come down to the pictures and the memories that they envoke. So here goes...

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Isn't Christmas just the best Holiday? The ONLY thing that I don't love about Christmas is the cooking! BUT... I'll even do that to have everyone I love best surrounding me. This year was especially wonderful being in our new home and having my brother here for a week! An entire week!!! Because he is in the military, it is very rare for us to get to spend that much time with him. I'm so thankful for what he and our other service men and women do for this country. I just wish that we had him here more. Anyone who knows me, knows that I always want more time with my family. It might sound a bit selfish, but I'm ok with that! lol For me, there is nothing better than having those I love with me as much as possible. Perfection would have been having Kelly's family here, too.

Here are a few pictures of our family at Christmas. I'm even in one of them! VERY unusual as I'm usually the one holding the camera. I'm actually going to share it even though I really need to fix my hair! lol Oh well... Would you believe that we actually took pictures of the whole family but they are ALL on my brother's camera. Not a single one on mine? Judging from the one my mom posted on her facebook, that might be a blessing in disguise... I never like pictures of myself!

I also got my copies of Scrapbooking and Beyond recently. This is the final issue of the Flourish series. This month we all used cardstock flourishes. I cut mine with my Wishblade. To give them some stability and dimension, I glued 3 flourishes directly on top of each other. I really like to do this to achieve the look of chipboard. Simple. This is me when I was a little girl with Santa...

December Kits- Getting Ready for Christmas

The My Creative Scrapbook kits are up! If you have a pile of Christmas pictures to scrap, you are going to want ALL of these kits!! They are full of Christmas beauty and fun! Fabulous New Kits!!!

Wow!! The November Kits at My Creative Scrapbook are over the top this month! It's one of those months that I can't even decide which one that I like better!

The Main Kit features Teresa Collins. I am always drawn to her papers and embellishments. Such beautiful papers! Pam has given you so many sparkles to work with, too! A perfect fit with TC papers!

This month, I did one of 'those' pages. You know the pages that I'm talking about. The pages the touch you, hurt you, heal you or remind you and hopefully help you. This month, I did one of those pages. When I saw the quote on one of the papers, I knew exactly which picture I was going to use. This one made me cry while I was making it, but I'm so glad that I did it. It's not my most intricate page but it is one that touches me.

This is my daughter Jade and one of her best friends from high school. Jade and Jacob shared their first date. The didn't date long, but became great friends. They had each other's backs and were always there for each other. When senior prom came along, they went together because they knew that it would be a blast to go with your best friend. Jacob and his twin sister died in a car accident last summer. It was a heartbreaking time for our daughter and also for our family and the community. He and Nicole will always be missed. I haven't scrapped a picture of Jade and Jacob together since right after he died. I made Jade a shadow box with a picture of him, but I tend to pass right over their pictures because it hurts to know that he isn't going to be around any more.

I also did another 2 pages that celebrate friendship with this kit. This kit just screams for pictures of friends!

New Kits at My Creative Scrapbook and a Zva Call!

Be sure to check out the reveal at My Creative Scrapbook! These are some gorgeous kits!!! The Main Kit features Webster's Pages this month and it's loaded!! There are two sheets of each paper, vellum, alphabets and the brand new Webster's Cameos! These are so beautiful and such a great addition to your pages. Here is what I did with the Main Kit.

My First Cover!!!

Let me tell you... I was bouncing around in excitement when I saw this!!

I had no idea that my layout was going to be on the cover of Scrapbooking and Beyond. What a FANTASTIC surprise!!! I must say that this was a big thing for me... yep, I admit that it probably made my year! LOL!! Poor Kelly was on the phone with a client and for the first time in 22 years, I interupted him. I just couldn't wait a single minute to tell someone and he happened to be the only one home!! Poor guy! Hopefully, he was able to convince his client that he didn't live with a nutcase!

I have gotten such a kick out of seing one of my layouts staring back at me from the newsstand. It is everything I can do not to point it out to random strangers in the store! I'm leaving that to my dad!! My mom tells me that when he sees it, he shows everyone and tells them that it's his grandkids on the cover. I'm afraid to ask if he tells them that his daughter made the layout. The answer just might give me a complex!! LOL!

My kids have enjoyed it, too. They have both had friends call them or text them to ask them what in the world they are doing on the cover of a magazine. Jade doesn't like the picture of her but I'm pretty sure that she will live! It's been a lot of fun and I just hope that I might get this opportunity again someday!
